Nasal saline improves quality of sleep in children with rhinitis

An observational retrospective study published in the Minerva Pediatrica Journal indicates the efficacy of nasal topical saline solution in children with rhinitis in terms of improving health related quality of life, decreasing snoring and apneas and daytime symptoms.

The study cohort comprised 58 children aged 3-6 years old who had rhinitis according to clinical and amnestic evaluation. A statistically significant difference was seen by one-way anova test (p<0,05) after the treatment. Mean scores in Pediatric Sleep Questionnaire before and after medical treatments were 0.39 and 0.28, respectively. This findings of this study attracts the attention of pediatricians on the importance of nasal topical saline solution in children with rhinitis.
